Our Cost of Ownership Calculator evaluates total economic output by aggregating seven core financial pillars:
- Capital & Financing: Amortizes loan principal and interest over chosen loan terms (36-84 months).
- Energy / Fuel Dynamics: Calculates actual energy spend based on annual mileage, fuel economy (MPG or MPGe), and local retail prices. Includes public charging premium adjustments for BEV models.
- Fixed Operating Overhead: Aggregates annual insurance premiums, state vehicle registration fees, and property taxes.
- Maintenance & Wear Items: Models scheduled oil changes, cabin filters, brake pad replacement, and annual tire degradation.
- Depreciation Schedules: Applies non-linear compound depreciation modeling (defaulting to 15% in year 1 and 10% annually thereafter).
- Capital Equipment & Reserves: Models one-time home charger installation and optional long-term high-voltage battery replacement reserve schedules over 10 and 15-year horizons.
